What Is A Physiotherapist?

A Physiotherapist according to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is a registered healthcare professional who assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease and disability through movement and exercise, focusing on the structure and function of the human body. All our Physiotherpiasts are AHPRA Certified. 

 

This means you do NOT need to have a referral to see a physiotherapist. 

 

At SPEARS Health we want to work with you to understand your conccerns through thorough assessments and diagnosis, formulate evidence based treatment plans to ensure effecitve and patient centered care. 

 

We use various techniques to help you improve your physical mobility and well-being.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy focuses on muscle and joint conditions, helping to reduce and relieve pain in these areas.

Spinal Physiotherapy

With lower back and neck pain being so common, our physiotherapists specialise in the assessment, diagnosis, education and treatment of these conditions.

Sports Physiotherapy and Athlete Screening 

Sports Physiotherapy is specifically dedicated to addressing injuries related to sports, recognizing the unique stresses that sports activities place on the body compared to general muscle and joint issues.​ Athlete Screenings involve assessments conducted by physiotherapists and exercise physiologists to pinpoint deficiencies in mobility, strength, and balance.

Cardiopulmonary Rehab 

Physiotherapy for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation focuses on improving the function of the heart and lungs in patients with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions. The goal is to enhance physical endurance, increase cardiovascular fitness, and help manage symptoms to improve quality of life.

Neurological Physiotherapy

Neurological physiotherapy involves the treatment of people with movement and function disorders that have originated from problems within the body’s nervous and neuromuscular system.Common neurological conditions include; Functional Neurological Disorders, Stroke, CVA or TIA, Spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, Multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.

Joint Mobilisation: To promote range of motion, improving joint function and reduce pain.

Soft Tissue Therapy: mannula techniques to releive musccle pain and tension.

Exercise Prescription: Customised programs to improve your strength, mobility, overall fitness and achieve  your goals.

Gait re-education: restoring normal walking mechanics, improving mobility, and reducing pain or discomfort.

Biomechanical re-education: improving the movement patterns and posture by addressing the underlying causes of movement dysfunction.

Dry Needling: technique to promote healing and alleviate pain 

ALTER G Treadmill prescription: reduced impact on joints allows for earlier and faster pain free rehabilitation. Reducing atrophy and maintaining cardiovascular fitness whilst injured. 

Hydrotherapy: water base, allows you to improve strength and mobility whilst managing pain levels. 

Theragun: a percussive massage device to reduce muscle soreness and promote recovery

TENS machine: alleviate pain, improve circulation, and promote healing.
